The table is set. The
menu is prepared. It is time to order up
your favorite science, technology, engineering or math program from the Iowa
Governor’s STEM Initiative buffet of
opportunities! And the best part?
The tab has already been covered.
On August 14th, the application site for grant
funded STEM programming became active.
Any person in Iowa interested in bringing high quality STEM programming
to kids--educators, community members, scout leaders and STEM professionals--may
apply to be a part of this landmark initiative.
The timeline for implementation is aggressive—application deadline for
the first round of scale up is September 14th.
So, what is on the MENU??
If you like critical thinking, problem solving, robots and a
little friendly competition, try the deliciously exciting FIRST Tech Challenge
or FIRST Lego League. Whet your appetite
for investigation by learning how to help kids enter the Iowa State Science andTechnology Fair. Hyperstream is on the
menu as well, offering an eclectic mix of personalized STEM opportunities to
fill hungry minds.
Or, maybe you want to spice up your science or math
classroom? A World in Motion, KidWind
and Engineering is Elementary will provide the main course in the form of
hands-on, highly engaging STEM activities.
